Once in a Lifetime Travel, MotepulcianoTravel Junkie and Italy Addict

My passion is travel and I created this blog to help others discover the amazing beauty of Italy that I have fallen in love with.

I was bitten by the travel bug at the age of 14 and the infectious symptoms continue to spread. I have traveled alone, with large groups, with friends, with family and with my young daughter.  I have even lead several intimate tour groups. My adventures have taken me from orphanages in Mexico to summers spent vaccinating villagers in Paraguay; from cramped hostels and dirty backpacks to luxurious quarters in renovated castles.

Despite my global wanderings, I am consistently drawn to Italy. I wish I could pinpoint the one reason why I always return, but Italy is too simply complex for that.

I started my custom travel planning service, Once in a Lifetime Travel, to help others discover the joy of travel in Italy while avoiding common pitfalls, all while saving money and  time.

When I’m not dreaming of Italy, I’m busy chasing my little boy or crafting with my daughter or snuggling my new little princess or I’m pinching myself to make sure I really found and married my high school sweetheart 18 years later.  My alter-ego blogs all about my family at Motherhood My Way.

Life is Good!

I agree with all your assessments of Italy. I was to Northern Italy with a drive through Switzerland, for two weeks during our honeymoon in 1972, first staying at the Ville de Este on Lake Como. I returned in 1999 for my 50th birthday and a Purillo tour with my senior parents who took me to my grandparents home town of Fardella in Potenza where I met my aunts and cousins….too long a wait….and again in 2000, 2001, 2002 and most recently in 2010 on the Oceania cruise line. All I think about is wanting to return to Italy….maybe to Tuscany where I can live for a few weeks on a farm, dine on farm grown foods, ride horses and wait for the bakery truck to appear. Like you, I’ve travelled throughout our USA, to Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico, France, Ireland, Switzerland, etc. and I still love Italy the most. We were also in Vernazza and we are following the restoration. We would also like to make a donation to assist in its recovery if you would be able to give us a responsible site at which to donate! I love your website and will be visiting it often. Although we will be back in Paris and Normandy for a May 2012 visit, we are already planning our next trip to Italy. I will be looking for information from your site!!!! Ciao. Diane Bonita,

  9. Ciao! I wonder if you ever visited the area I blog about in Italy (Marche region, province of Pesaro and Urbino, land of Rossini, Raphael, truffle and ‘piadina’?). If you ever feel like discovering Marche, let me know. I’ll give you some useful tips, even if it looks like you know Italy better than many Italians do😉
